It's that time of the year once again, and the pressure is on to find the special people in your life unique gifts that they'll love. But looking for gifts can become frustrating and tiresome in a market that's saturated with toiletries and other generic products. The solution? Vintage.
You can't get more unique than vintage; many pieces are often rare or one-of-a-kind. And because of the huge variety of vintage available online, you're almost guaranteed to find the perfect something for every one of your family and friends. Perhaps it'll even spark their own love of vintage.
So, I've decided to put together this vintage gift guide of sorts. Of course, my picks are also suitable for birthday and housewarming gifts. I hope this provides a little gift inspiration. I know it can sometimes be a struggle!
Gifts For Her
1. While toast racks may not be used much on breakfast tables in 2016, they also make great letter holders. They add a lovely vintage touch to an office desk.
2. For the coffee enthusiast, there's china coffee sets and French presses.
3. Clip on earrings make wonderful gifts because they can be worn by those with or without pierced ears. Costume jewellery is highly affordable, making it a perfect stocking filler.
4. You don't get much more feminine than a floral dressing table set. Even if they're not used, they look lovely on display. Sets typically have a mirror, a hair brush and a clothes brush. The set shown above is unusual as it has a photo frame and a trinket dish. And of course, it's rare to find them in the original box!
5. For a tea lover, a small piece of vintage china is affordable and a pretty display piece.
6. A stunning hand-embroidered tablecloth is a good option for the house-proud or an afternoon tea lover. Think of the time it took someone to embroider each and every flower.
Gifts for Him
1. A stylish mid-century letter rack is always a welcome addition to a desk or shelf.
2. For coffee drinkers, these quirky coffee spoons with bean handles make a nice gift. Gifting vintage in an original box makes it even more special.
3. For a tea drinker, a classic silver plated teapot makes a good gift. They keep the tea hot longer than ceramic teapots.
4. A wooden book rack makes a wonderful addition to any room. You could even give one as a gift along with a book to start the collection.
5. Edinburgh Crystal produced this rugby engraved beer tankard and it would make the perfect gift for a rugby player or fan. Every piece of Edinburgh Crystal is gift-worthy.
6. These yellow art deco style coffee cups add a nice pop of colour to a room. I've also seen people use ceramic cups as cactus pots, and the pair shown above would be perfect for that.
